Shortened, rain delayed race results in second win of 2007

Jamie HackingLEXINGTON, Ohio (Aug 7, 2007) – Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking put his Kawasaki ZX™-10R on the podium for the second time this year with an impressive third-place finish at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

With the start of the race pushed back due to a rain delay, the riders lined up at the start at approximately 7:15 p.m. Knowing daylight could become a factor, the officials changed the 28-lap race to just 18 laps of competition.

Hacking waited patiently after getting a sixth-place start and took the fifth position during lap five. He made it up to Jamie Hackingfourth and eventually got to third on lap eight, finishing with almost a three-second gap on the fourth-place rider. “I got a really good start, probably my best to date,” said Hacking. “The bike had some pretty good top speed going along the back straightaway. I was getting a good drive and was able to pass them on the brakes. From there I put in a comfortable pace, consistently building a gap, and was able to bring it home for the team.”

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Roger Hayden also had a good run on his Kawasaki ZX™-10R, finishing the day in eighth place. “I didn’t want to make any stupid mistakes since I knew we were going to try and have the supersport race right after,” said Hayden, who is the current points leader of the AMA Supersport class. “I wasn’t able to find a good rhythm and was sliding around more than I would have liked. I know we are making progress so I’m confident that we can come back next race and be up front.”

Due to the rain delay, the AMA Supersport race was cancelled because of low-visibility on the track. The riders Jamie Hackingmet with AMA officials following the short warm-up session and with the time being after 8 p.m., the decision was made to cancel the race.
